Gannett Company History
Beginning of paper
Gannett Company is today one of the largest newspaper groups in the
United States. Gannett now has facilities in 44 states, and the district
of Columbia, Guan, US virgin Island, Germany, Singapore and UK ( Hoover pg.
639 ). The newspaper company was founded by Frank Ernest Gannett, Who in
1906 began his interest in newspaper companies. .... Middle of paper
.... in the city, that made it affordable and
profitable to run(Encyclopidia Britinica). In 1912 Gannett purchased the
Ithaca Journal, this was a big foot in the door for Gannett he was now in
the division of upper New York. This was also the first paper that Gannett
worked for. In 1918 the now well developing company moved to Rochester,
another part of New York. After this move bought out his partners 1923 and
Formed the Gannett Company, Inc. ( ....
