Attacks On The Insanity Defense
Number of pages: 14 | Number of words: 3680.... In all, I believe
that these problems, as well as others which will be mentioned later, lead
us to the conclusion that the insanity defense is useless and should be
abolished entirely. Insanity is a legal, not a medical definition.
Therefore, mental illness and insanity are not synonymous: only some mental
illness constitutes insanity. Insanity, however, includes not only mental
illness but also mental deficiencies. Due to this, there are problems in
exactly how to apply a medical theory to a legal matter (Herman, 1983;128).
The legal concepts of mental illness and insanity r .....

The Misconception Of The Death Penalty
Number of pages: 4 | Number of words: 897.... is filled with inequalities and injustices. The commonly offered arguments for the death penalty are filled with holes. Defenders of the death penalty have said it is a deterrent, removes killers, is the ultimate punishment, is biblical, satisfies the public's need for retribution. It has also been said that it relieves the anguish of the victim's family. Realistically, imposing the death penalty is expensive and time consuming. Retroactively, it has yet to be proven as a deterrent. Morally, it is a continuation of the cycle of violence and degrades all who are involved in its .....

Drugs: A Major Problem In Canadian Society
Number of pages: 3 | Number of words: 694.... addicts includes an
extensive program of detoxification. Medical drugs, such as Naloxone, are
sometimes given to patients to aid in overcoming these addictions. These drugs
occupy opiate receptors in the brain to block all effects of the damaging drugs,
however the Naloxone is not an addictive drug, as the others are. The downfall
to the medical drugs being used to help addiction are that there effects are
very short-term and cannot cure the patient, but does assist in attaining the
goal of substituting a more controllable, less lethal drug as opposed to the
original narco .....

Gun Control In The U.S.
Number of pages: 2 | Number of words: 543.... the gun wanted the gun for impulse reasons (out of rage), it is hoped that they will not still want to cause bodily harm after a couple weeks.
The problem with this method of gun control is that it stops the ordinary citizen from purchasing a gun on the whim, but it actually protects the common criminal. Underage buyers and other delinquents can purchase mass quantities of weapons through "dummy buyers" that have clean backgrounds. So if a burglar enters a house with full intention to maim or kill, the innocent victim (who can't get a gun to protect his family becaus .....

The Death Penalty: A Necessary Evil
Number of pages: 4 | Number of words: 906.... turned around, but the life
taken away by the murderer can never be given back. They should therefore be
given a harsher punishment than life in prison. In terms of justice, we should
all get what we deserve.
One argument against the death penalty is that the bible tells us not to
murder. If this includes all people it should include the government. However,
the death penalty is not quite the same as murder. It is an exacting of justice.
Consequently, the Bible also says, Ran eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth.S
It could also say a life for a life as well. The .....
