The book The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, is set back in the late
1600's based on Puritan beliefs tells about many people accused of
witchcraft in Salem Massachusetts and hung for it. They believe that they
will be “purified” if they strip away all the extras of the mass by taking
the ceremony, splendour, and fun activities out of it. .... Middle of paper .... fear gets her out of trouble when she is accused of being
involved with witchcraft. Betty lays in bed to scared to get up because
she and her Abby and Tituba committed a sin by dancing in the woods.
Parris, Abby's uncle and Reverend Hale question Abigail about what they did
to make Betty act this way.
Parris says, “I saw a kettle in the grass where you girls were
