Peter Straub was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on March 2, 1943. His father was a salesman while his mother was a nurse. They both had ideas for their son, Peter, as for what they wanted him to become. All Straub wanted to do though, at the age of 5, was learn to read. Kindergarten was a bore for Peter; cutting shapes out of construc .... Middle of paper
.... the long hours sitting, Peter read even more so than ever. And once able to walk again, his misfortune did not leave him alone. Straub soon developed a severe stutter which accompanied his speech into his twenties, and even now, at 57, still puts in an appearance. Another very unfortunate incident occurred to Peter as a child, which he refrains from speaking about almost entirely; he was sexually abused. He has never spoken of the details, ....
