To Kill A Mockingbird
Number of pages: 2 | Number of words: 430.... them up, and when the neighbors’ house was on fire. It was cold out, and Boo came to scout with a blanket. He wanted to be there for people.
Another argument about Boo is that he killed someone. I have many sides to this topic. It’s possible that Boo killed Mr. Ewell out of hate. Killed him because he was a petty drunk, and none the less, just a horrible man. Then again, Boo could have killed Mr. Ewell for the children’s sake. Some people may say, “Oh well! He killed someone and that’s that! It’s a horrible thing to do!” I on the other hand really don’t care, wha .....

1984: Some Prophecies Have Come True
Number of pages: 3 | Number of words: 552.... on the televisions or by subliminal messages.
Winston was brainwashed into conforming to the normal society by loving Big
Brother. The brainwashing in the book might be a little exaggerated but it is
still the same concept.
Yet another example is how people are tagged with numbers. People today
are identified by a social security number same as in 1984. Many of Orwells
predictions became true but many didn't.
Despite the truths, there were many untruths prevalent in 1984. Many
concepts expressed in the book such as banned sex, thought police, food

Power And Control In Maggie
Number of pages: 5 | Number of words: 1327.... novel opens with a scene of violence. Two different groups of boys are engaged in a bloody scuffle. Crane writes, “A very little boy stood upon a heap of gravel for the honor of Rum Alley. He was throwing stones at howling urchins from Devil’s Row who were circling madly about the heap and pelting at him” (Crane 3). That the kids are battling for the so-called “honor of Rum Alley” (Crane 3) shows that the kids are trying to gain a position of power through battle. If they can injure those who stand in their way in front of everyone else they .....

Jack The Ripper
Number of pages: 3 | Number of words: 680.... whole case because we informed the public
of the killings and it seemed that this was all new to everyone only because it was the
most publicized case. This type of thing has happened before, but no one knew about it
and now you know the real world. The press had created the “boogey man” and many
myths and puzzles for the public.
The Ripper was thought to know a great deal about anatomy because the body’s
were slashed at the throat and the way the body’s were mutilated suggest that. The
victims all prostitutes all slashed at the throat and mutilated. The body’s were fo .....

Moby Dick
Number of pages: 2 | Number of words: 507.... that surrounds him. Ishmael’s resentment towards life its self brings about his feelings of not being alive. Melville uses the month of November to indicate these feelings of death and suicide. The month of November is known for being lifeless, a period in which some just wait for death to set in.
In this quote Melville is strongly emphasizing Ishmael’s thoughts about death and suicide. "I find myself involuntarily pausing before coffin warehouses, and bringing up the rear of every funeral I meet," although Ishmael doesn’t mean to, he finds himself running into things re .....

Wuthering Heights And The Them
Number of pages: 4 | Number of words: 916.... It’s interesting that Nelly Dean is used because of her biased opinions. In addition, the structure of Wuthering Heights displays a uniqueness. Just as Elizabethan plays have five acts, Wuthering Heights is composed of two “acts,” the times before and after Catherine’s death. However, unlike stereotypical novels, Wuthering Heights has no true heroes or villains. “Although this work was written in the Romantic Period, it is not a romance. There are no true heroes or villains, only a revealing of what people truly are” (Baxter 1). .....

Jane Eyre, The Feminist Tract"
Number of pages: 9 | Number of words: 2428.... she handles problems or confrontations in
her relationships, and to follow her example in their own lives. Just as
we see Jane as a model of a woman successful in asserting her self-worth,
we are also given a warning about the possible outcome of failure to
realize self-worth in Bertha Rochester. This facet will also be discussed
briefly. Bronte uses the motivation of personal experiences to create the
life of Jane Eyre in which we see the quest for social betterment through
her relationships.
Bronte herself experienced the social limitations of the nineteenth
century. .....
