It is here that Sylvia becomes infuriated with the systems in America. She notices all of the expensive toys in the store window and inside the store, and wonders who would pay so much money for toys. Obviously, rich people are the only ones who can afford such expensive items. Sylvia feels that it is unfair for certain people to be able to buy certain things, while other people are struggling just to get by. .....

In Act II, Beneatha shows how she has connected with her African roots by doing a ceremonial dance and by cutting her hair so that it would "natural." .... that the plumber has a few physical characteristics that match her own (such as blond hair), and she is talking to him as he descends into the earth. The scene begins immediately after the plumber says "I think something has stopped the elbow", because this phrase was one of the few things that a man has ever said that Mrs. Ames has understood. After the plumber has descended into the ground before the scene, Mrs. Ames is the only one left. She spends the entire duration of this scene sitting on the grass, silently thinking and revealing her thoughts to the audience. .....

.... an individual actually existing is an unfortunate impossibility given the personality flaws present in each. When one speaks of unfortunate impossibilities in this novel, it is Jake's war injury that most often comes to mind first. It is appropriate, though, that this is the case, because in Jake, we find the character most often given the chance at being the hero. Hemingway evokes immediate compassion for Jake at the suggestion of Jake's sexually incapacitating war wound. By appealing to the male reader's sense of machismo (and subsequent fear of sexual inadequacy) and the .....

.... very highly of him. He is extremely angry at Caesar’s death. He is a very cunning man as can be seen in the second part of the scene and he is able to manipulate people. He cared a lot for Caesar and as a result he grieved a lot when Caesar was killed. Because he was very close to Caesar he wants revenge and, although he can hide it, has a lot of hatred for the conspirators who killed Caesar.
