Voting
Number of pages: 2 | Number of words: 276.... an
election, and don't plan on it.
My family votes neither democratic nor republican, they vote for both.
What I mean by that is that they vote for the best candidate who they think will
get the job done. So they would be considered non-partisan. They go about
picking the candidate based on the qualities of honesty, character, and what the
candidate has accomplished in the past.
There wasn't a basic consensus on the issues they thought were most
important, but there issues they thought were most important, but there issues
all dealt with money. For example my mom thought .....

Constitutional Convention: Day By Day Occurrences
Number of pages: 7 | Number of words: 1791.... the notions
which we have been privy to. One of my personal goals of this convention
is to talk freely with Ben Franklin about his ideas about government. Mr.
Franklin has traveled widely and has seen many nations. He is old and wise
and I want to talk to him before he passes away. Right now he is at the
age of 81, I think.
May 31
Recently the convention has become vexatious. The summers in this
towne are very humid. We are forced to keep the window open everywhere.
Flies are about at all times and it is hard to concentrate. Also, some of
the discussions .....

The Electoral College System
Number of pages: 5 | Number of words: 1181.... put a dent in the checks and
balances system. Even with this problem the system was voted for and
approved on four different occasions (Peirce 39).
Basically the Electoral College system works like this today. Every
ten years the census figures adjusts how many representatives each state
has. This number plus two, representing the two senators, equals how many
electors each state has. Also Washington DC has 3 electors. Then each state
has the right to decide how to select these electors. Forty-eight states
use the general ticket system, two, Maine and Nebraska, use th .....

The Electoral College
Number of pages: 4 | Number of words: 945.... no longer
boasted exclusive control over the presidency. The electoral college was
intended to satiate the demands of federalists as well as antifederalists
but as history has evinced, it didn't. With the Electoral College in
effect, the fate of the presidency still lied in the hands of elite America.
Each state appointed a number of electors equal to the number seats that
state carried in the house and senate. In other words, when a citizen cast
a vote, he/she is not directly voting the president in, rather that party's
board of electors. Considering there are 538 members .....

Atomic Diplomacy
Number of pages: 7 | Number of words: 1776.... Kennen, the foremost expert of Soviet Affairs in early post-war America, is almost wholly responsible for the policy of containment. Nuclear weapons were part of an integrated system of containment and deterrence. Truman told Kennen in early 1947 that, "Our weapons of mass destruction are not fail-safe devices, but instead the fundamental bedrock of American security".
They were never intended as first strike weapons and had no real tactical value. The bomb is purely strategic, and its value comes not from its destructive capabilities, but from its political and psychological .....
