Alcoholism
Number of pages: 3 | Number of words: 737.... level. Our views on work ethic and athletics are closely tied together. My father always told me that once a quitter always a quitter. Being a Varsity wrestler and football player, those words inspired me to always to obtain my goals no matter the obstacles standing in my way. I believe a person that quits a sport or drops a difficult class in high school will do the same when a difficult task is in front of him in the real world. My father has guided me to be myself and not to live my life as a follower, but to be a leader. As a senior football captain, my leadership must .....

Time For Reform? Considering The Failures Of The Electoral College
Number of pages: 8 | Number of words: 1928.... the presidency. If no
candidate receives a majority of the vote, the responsibility of selecting the
next President falls upon the House of Representatives. This elaborate system of
Presidential selection is thought by many to be an 18th century anachronism
(Hoxie p. 717), what it is in fact is the product of a 200 year old debate over
who should select the President and why.
In 1787, the Framers in their infinite wisdom, saw the need to respect the
principles of both Federalists and States Righters (republicans) (Hoxie p. 717).
Summarily a compromise was struck between th .....

Canada Immigration Laws
Number of pages: 7 | Number of words: 1902.... laws have become a very significant issue in Canadian
society today. There is much controversy over the process in which
immigrants must undergo before being granted Canadian citizenship. The
increasing requirements for skilled workers, education entry level,
language requirements etc., are being seen as racist proposals for those
who are trying to enter the country. There are three basic categories
immigrants can fall under; (1) Independent - selected for their economic
contribution, including skilled workers and business immigrants. (2)

Diplomatic Immunity
Number of pages: 7 | Number of words: 1780.... this unique position of freedom that diplomats, their family, and staff
have been graced with has not been so ideal. Recently the occurrences of abuse
for personal or national gain has grown out of proportion. What once protected
the diplomat and his staff from parking tickets and some differing social laws,
now grants them protection under the law to commit crimes such as drug
trafficking, kidnapping, rape, and murder. Even though serious crimes are rare
and punishable to various extents in most countries, domestic authorities were
forced to look the other way. While it wo .....

Term Limits For Legislators
Number of pages: 12 | Number of words: 3060.... developed
in recent years, in response to congressional careerism, is the drive to impose
limits on the length of time someone may serve in Congress. Currently,
advocates of term limits are calling for two terms in the Senate, and three in
the House. It is possible, then, for a member to serve six years in the House,
twelve years in the Senate, eight years as Vice President, and eight years as
President, a total of thirty-six years. It is not unlikely, therefore, that
there will continue to be career politicians. The issue is not about total time
that one may participate .....

Assisted Suicide
Number of pages: 18 | Number of words: 4746.... pain. There never seems to be a prosecution of doctors who participate in these acts, even though they frequently go to court. I wondered why this occured and what the laws really said regarding this. I also wondered how people distinguished between forgoing medical interventions and actually assisting in the suicide. As I approached the research, my main questions were regarding opposers. I really did not know all the problems that could occur. Research about this brought to light many things that are not discussed in the media, although this is a highly publicized subje .....

Homosexual Education
Number of pages: 5 | Number of words: 1337.... young children subjects such as homosexuality. For example, in Provincetown, Massachusetts, the school board has voted to begin teaching preschoolers about homosexual lifestyles. They also want to back hiring preferences for sexual minorities ( Clinton's homosexual agenda 2). There is also a school in New York City that have told their students they must come to an assembly for two days in a row to talk about how normal homosexuality is, and how indecent, undemocratic, and homophobic it is to have any negative views of such sexual functioning (Socarides 3). It is hard for me to .....

The Federalist Papers And Federalism
Number of pages: 4 | Number of words: 1003.... effect on New York's and
Virginia's ratification of the Constitution.
Encyclopedia Britannica defines Federalism as, "A mode of political
organization that unites independent states within a larger political framework
while still allowing each state to maintain it's own political integrity" (712).
Having just won a revolution against an oppressive monarchy, the American
colonists were in willing to replace it with another monarchy style of
government. On the other hand, their experience with the disorganization under
the Articles of Confederation, due to unfair comp .....
