The Insanity Defense
Number of pages: 3 | Number of words: 818.... problems, as well as others which will be mentioned later, lead us to the conclusion that is useless and should be abolished entirely. The major difficulty with a theory such as mental illness is that it is just that, a theory. To scientists theories are a way of life, but applied to the concept of law theories become somewhat dangerous. By applying a loose theory such as mental illness to law we are in essence throwing the monkey wrench into the wheels of justice.
According to the laws of insanity, a person is basically insane if he or she is unable to distinguish be .....

Is Drug Testing The Answer?
Number of pages: 5 | Number of words: 1160.... some quiet time with a loved one, or even reading a good book.
Conversely, coping can come in the form of substance abuse. Substance abuse can
take humans to that alternate reality they seek. Different drugs have different
effects on the mind and body. The reason for the effect is the same no matter
what drug is used. This reason is to escape reality.
Addiction follows this escape from reality. Once addiction comes into
play, it is no longer a matter of escaping. People addicted to drugs, such as
cocaine, need the drug in order to function. Without the drug they fiend .....

Legalizing Marijuana
Number of pages: 5 | Number of words: 1291.... effect.
The chemical structure of marijuana is very complex and unique. This is why a number of people smoke this plant to get high.
There are a large number of people in the United States who believe that marijuana should not be legalized. There are many reasons that people feel this was, and one is because of marijuana's short-term effects. A person who smokes marijuana will usually have problems with memory and leaning, trouble with thinking and problem solving, and suffer loss of coordination. All of these effects can affect a person's performance at work, school, or d .....

Our Prison System Sucks
Number of pages: 2 | Number of words: 501.... doesn't sound at all like a prison. A prison is a place
where people are supposed to be punished. Not treated like guests. There
is a fin line between being punished and being over punished however. I'm
not saying that each person should be beaten daily, or made to stay in a
cell by themselves with no one to talk to for an eternity. The person
should be punished according to the crime. "An eye for an eye." This
brings me to the subject of capital punishment. I'm sure some of you are
disgusted by the word, but I am not. I am disgusted with the fact that it
is not here .....

Defending A Killer
Number of pages: 4 | Number of words: 829.... told his client
how he could not reveal that information, even though someone was going to
die for a crime they did not commit. Where and how could such a rule be put
into place that would make it totally acceptable for an innocent person to
be put to death for a crime that they did not commit? Try to vision if you
can, a family member accused of murder, tried, convicted, and sentenced to
death for a crime they did not commit. How much faith would you now have in
that family member or friend telling you that he or she is innocent. Now
picture a lawyer, knowing that your spouse .....

Capital Punishment: Why Or Why Not?
Number of pages: 6 | Number of words: 1389.... it justice that she was not put to death for
killing her two children? How could someone possibly let her off the hook
of such a crime?
"All grandeur, all power, all subordination to authority rests on
the executioner: he is the horror and the bond of human association.
Remove this incomprehensible agent from the world and at that very moment
order gives way to chaos, thrones topple and society disappears," says,
Joseph de Maistre, an eighteenth century French Diplomat. He is right, if
we give up on punishing a deadly criminal, then we throw our society into
chaos and let .....

Laws Of War
Number of pages: 13 | Number of words: 3430.... and accomplices participating in
the formulation or execution of a common plan or conspiracy to commit any of the
foregoing crimes are responsible for all acts performed by any persons in
execution of such plan.1
The above excerpt comes form the Charter of the Tribunal Article 6 section C,
which makes it quite clear that in general the "laws of war" are there to
protect innocent civilians before and during war.
It seems to be a fair idea to have such rules governing armed conflict in order
to protect the civilians in the general location of such a conflict. But, when
the .....

Marijuana: The Legalization
Number of pages: 4 | Number of words: 900.... and affordable distribution of marijuana to all patients in medical need of marijuana. (Proposition 215 Section 11362.5)
Of course, it goes on and breaks into fine detail into which I choose not to venture. To summarize it all, if you're sick, or think you are, your doc can get you some pot. Just like that.
So what's so great about this? It supposedly brings relief to those with terminal illnesses. (Such were listed in 215) Cancer sufferers who are inflicted with nausea due to chemotherapy have reported that a puff or two of a marijuana cigarette reliev .....
