A Study Of Inheritable Traits In Fruit Flies
Number of pages: 6 | Number of words: 1423.... it develops into an adult through metamorphosis. Upon
reaching adulthood, the flies are ready to mate and produce the next generation
of Drosophila melanogaster.
During this experiment, monohybrid and dihybrid crosses were conducted
with Drosophila melanogaster. Our objective was to examine the inheritance from
one generation to the next. We collected the data from the crosses and analyzed
them in relation to the expected results.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
For the monohybrid cross in this experiment, we used an F1 generation, which
resulted from the mating of a male homozygo .....

Volcanos
Number of pages: 5 | Number of words: 1350.... smooth,
folded sheets of rock called pahoehoe. Stickier lava cools into rough, jagged
sheets of rock called aa. Pahoehoe and aa cover large areas of Hawaii, where
the terms originated. The stickiest lava forms flows of boulders and rubble
called block flows. It may also form mounds of lava called domes.
Other lava formations are spatter cones and lava tubes. Spatter cones
are steep hills that can get up to 100 feet high. They build up from the spatter
of geyser-like eruptions of thick lava. Lava tubes are tunnels formed from fluid
lava. As the lava flows, its exterior co .....

Blood Doping
Number of pages: 3 | Number of words: 809.... of anaerobic cellular respiration within the muscle tissue, which can cause muscle sourness that, usually, is felt after a hard or long workout. Fatigue usually sets in with the onset of lactic acid production. Oxygen is carried to the muscle by two delivery systems. Three percent of oxygen is carried in plasma and ninety-seven percent is in hemoglobin, the principal protein in erythrocytes (red blood cells). If hemoglobin amounts are increased, this will lead to increased oxygen levels that can be transported to the muscles. Allowing the muscles to become more fatigu .....

Biological And Chemical Weapons
Number of pages: 6 | Number of words: 1582.... chemicals. This makes it a viable means of warfare for Third World countries. The use of chemical weapons by Iraq and Libya in 1988 reinforces the danger that these weapons will spread (Cass 1996).
Not only are these weapons cheap, but they are very effective. Defense Secretary William S. Cohen held up a five-pound bag of sugar on national television last month to show how, with an equivalent amount of anthrax, Iraq could eliminate at least half the population of Washington. The US Law Enforcement Assistance Administration reported in March 1977 that a single ounce .....

Mars 3
Number of pages: 7 | Number of words: 1802.... 0.13%; Water at 0.03%; and Neon at 0.00025 %. Martian air contains only about 1/1,000 as much water as our air, but even this small amount can condense out, forming clouds that rise high in the atmosphere or swirl around the slopes of towering volcanoes. Local patches of early morning fog can form in valleys. At the Viking Lander 2 site, a thin layer of water frost covered the ground each winter. There is evidence that in the past a denser Martian atmosphere may have allowed water to flow on the planet. Physical features closely resembling shorelines, gorges, riverbeds and is .....
