What Is Welfare?
Number of pages: 4 | Number of words: 1006.... rather than opportunities, or
incentives (Long 23). Federal expenditures for public and private low-cost
housing have been cut from $30 billion, in 1981, to $7 billion in 1987, and
only about 4 million of 10 million eligible households receive federal
rental assistance of any kind (Long 29).
In the essay, “A Nation of Welfare Families,” Stephanie Coontz
discusses her belief that all families in American history have depended on
the legislative, judicial, and social structures set up by the government
(Coontz 994). The suburban family of the 1950s was far more dependent .....

What Is The Future Of The Family In Canada?
Number of pages: 2 | Number of words: 508.... can adjust to.
With families changing in recent decades, data still shows that families
are still the most important in people's lives. Following recent studies Robert
Glossop said that "Canadians continue to report that the most important things
in their lives are their families...more important than their political
convictions, their religious beliefs, their jobs, their wages." A Statscan
study reported that only forty-five per cent of families are the ‘traditional'
type, however, Robert Glossop says the data "tell me that people are still
living in families, but they don .....

Feminism
Number of pages: 3 | Number of words: 681.... "Constructivism, Feminism and Nature: Does
Language Have to In-Form?") It was convenient for a woman to have no
education, but be attractive and get married at a young age. A man to
take care of their needs, but did they really?
With that question, I bring about the topic of feminism. Were
women totally unparalell then with today's working woman? A question
often asked, but never really dissolved. My point in tact would be women
were basically the same emotionally, but had a greater demand to be
socially and politically correct. In doing so, men were predomina .....

Canada Lacks A Real National Identity
Number of pages: 5 | Number of words: 1127.... identify with community or region over nation. To gain a
Canadian identity we must learn to identify with a nation, Canada. This is one
of the main reasons we lack a Canadian identity, because we as Canadians do not
really think of ourselves as Canadians. We may be Canadians but we think of
Canada as a place of refuge rather than a home. This ties in with our lack of
patriotism. Many Canadians that I know, come Olympic time or another big world
competition, rather that cheering for Canada, will cheer for their home country.
A reason for this is because of our multicultura .....

Gays: A Struggle For Acceptance
Number of pages: 18 | Number of words: 4700.... be able to take
these rights away from anyone. Also, in the 1950s, the civil rights movement
became active and words like desegregation and equal rights for all became
synonymous with the American way of life. Stand up and fight against those who
have done you wrong! This is what gave homosexuals such a conviction to start
fighting for their own cause. This paper will follow the progress of gay and
lesbians in the twentieth century before, during and after World War II. What
was their position in the armed forces during the war and what was government
and military policy during .....

Car Accidents And The Elderly
Number of pages: 3 | Number of words: 675.... effort of self-protection in their driving habits, the elderly still show a higher risk of crash and injury than the mid-aged drivers”(Thrive Online. News Poll. 1999 ).
When the elderly adjust their driving habits, they consider the risks they face, but not the external risks they impose on others when they drive. If the elderly are forced to adjust their driving habits further to offset the external risks of their driving, their risk of crash and injury would be reduced and society as a whole would be better off.

Feminism And Gender Equality In The 1990's
Number of pages: 8 | Number of words: 2035.... was that the educated woman
was actually selfish and evil.
I remember in particular the searing effect on me, who once intended to be
a psychologist, of a story in McCall's in December 1949 called "A Weekend
with Daddy." A little girl who lives a lonely life with her mother,
divorced, an intellectual know-it-all psychologist, goes to the country to
spend a weekend with her father and his new wife, who is wholesome, happy,
and a good cook and gardener. And there is love and laughter and growing
flowers and hot clams and a gourmet cheese omelet and square dancing, and
she d .....
