AIDS Is A Killer
Number of pages: 3 | Number of words: 709.... Chemokines are proteins or (protein receptors) on the surface of T-cells and microphages, they are used to "talk" to, arouse, and attract cells. There are two variants of chemokines, alpha and beta chemokines. Among these there are many different chemokines from CCR5, CCR3, CXCR4, etc… Now AIDS needs the CD4 molecule and the CCR5 protein to be present on a T-cell to successfully infect the cell. It needs the CD4 molecule to latch on to the cell. Once this is accomplished it needs the CCR5 protein to be able to get inside of the cell in order to infect it.

Education on the issue of HIV/AIDS obviously needs to begin at an earlier age.
Since this is such a controversial issue, the age at which education should begin is debatable. The children need to be mature enough to handle the concerns and they ne .....

Antibiotics And Their Role In Society
Number of pages: 4 | Number of words: 939.... can be bacteriostatic (bacteria stopped from multiplying) or bactericidal (bacteria killed). To perform either of these functions, antibiotics must be brought into contact with the bacteria.
It is believed that antibiotics interfere with the surface of bacteria cells, causing a change in their ability to reproduce. Testing the action of an antibiotic in the laboratory shows how much exposure to the drug is necessary to halt reproduction or to kill the bacteria. Although a large amount of an antibiotic taken at one time might kill the bacteria causing an illness, such a d .....
