A Cappella? Is That How You Spell It?
Number of pages: 5 | Number of words: 1180.... waters with two spellings?
The phrase was first used in Italian Catholic churches, where Latin was the
language for sacred text. Thus, the Latin spelling for 'in the style of the
chapel' - a capella - has some historical basis. However, most other
musical terms - forte, accelerando, and many others - are Italian in origin.
Since the Italian spelling is more consistent with other musical terms, it
has been used more frequently.
Given the difficulty of spelling our favorite style of music, we'd like to
endorse the simplicity of a single spelling:
a cappe .....

American music.”
The ethnic diversity: part of the cultural richness of our nation
is derived from its ethnic diversity and its large number of ethnic groups.
Immigrant groups may have partially assimilated into the mainstream of our
society while retaining the songs, dances, instruments, languages (at least
accent and inflection), fashion, food, and lifestyles of their native
cultures. In many cases, the merging of cultural traditions has formed new
styles and modes of behavior. For example, jazz evolved in the early
twentieth century.

covered with popular musicians. So if they are so accessible then most
people are aware of this so they start to pay attention to it, they see
these extravagant people with no boundaries, limits or regulations. Most

The Singing School: An American Tradition
Number of pages: 5 | Number of words: 1196.... having the same rhythms as the poetry, to be used as melodies for
many psalms. In addition, the text employed the vernacular, and consequently
promoted memorization. The ninth edition of the Bay Psalm Book, published in
1698, was the first edition published with tunes. This edition had printed the
letters F-S-L-M, representing the solmization syllables fa, sol, la, and mi,
under the notes. This indicates that there was a familiarity with and an
interest in music instruction as applied to psalmody.
It was not until the early 18th century, however, that as a direct
result of .....

standards for musical scales, relationships, instruments, and creative
formation. Musical scales became defined, and taught. Instrument makers
began a precision approach to device construction. Composers develope .....

Review Of Gyorgi Ligeti's Danse Macarbei
Number of pages: 2 | Number of words: 279.... was wide
awake when it was over. Ligeti seems to have sculpted a piece together from bits
and pieces of other musical styles: a sort of modern-art approach to music. The
violins tuning without a care in the first few moments, the slow mock continuo
of the highly dissonant bassoon counterpoint, and the later high pitch of a
clarinet all seem to be broad, bold strokes on a canvas of sound. Ideas come
floating to the front of the imaginary "stage", and drop back behind newer
themes.
The percussion also adds considerably to the complexity of the piece in
the later minutes, st .....

Song Review: “Iris”
Number of pages: 2 | Number of words: 387.... about the past or future, just the present
time he spends with her. I’m convinced that this guy is really in love
with her. This song is so moving it makes you believe that this really is
in love with the girl.
With this love, there is tragedy. “And you can’t fight the tears
that ain’t coming, or the moment of truth in your lies.” This line is the
saddest part of the whole song. The reality of the two not being able to
be together suddenly hits. For reasons unknown, they can not be together,
and this is the worst possible thing that can happen to two people who are .....
