Medical Revolutions
Number of pages: 4 | Number of words: 1010.... least tried.
Nearly all the older doctors had received their education on an apprenticeship basis but the younger men, those who made up the bulk of the army surgeons, usually held a medical school diploma along with an office internship. Little attention was paid to clinical instruction, and in most cases the laboratory was all but forgotten. Further, stethoscopes, thermometers, syringes, and the like were widely used in Europe while many doctors here at home had never seen them let alone used them.
In regard to ability and competence, there is no reason to believe the docto .....

"How Is Helium Produced?"
Number of pages: 5 | Number of words: 1143.... producer. In 1960,
Congress amended the Helium Act to provide incentives to natural gas producers
for stripping natural gas of its helium, for purchase of the separated helium by
the government, and for its long-term storage. With over 960 million cubic
meters (34.6 billion cubic feet) of helium in government storage and a large
private helium recovery industry, questions arise as to the need for either the
federal helium extraction program or the federally maintained helium stockpile.
In a move which would take the federal government out of the helium business,
Congress pa .....

Water Pollution: Is It As Big Of A Problem As We Think?
Number of pages: 9 | Number of words: 2445.... in the lake need
oxygen to survive. If the oxygen level is depressed to zero, all fish in the
lake die. Any decomposition that does not contain oxygen starts to generate
noxious gases such as Hydrogen Sulfide. Pulp and paper mills, and municipal
sewage causes BOD. Nutrients: Nutrients, particularly nitrogen and phosphorus,
enrich waters and accelerate the aging of lakes and streams. Also, the result
of this is rich plant life which prohibits recreational activities. Plankton
blooms depress oxygen levels (as mentioned before) and therefore, endanger
living organisms. Major .....

The Dangers Of Nuclear "Progress"
Number of pages: 3 | Number of words: 610.... the Baruch Plan in the United Nations. This proposal stated that
all nuclear technology and materials be placed under international
ownership and that all nuclear weapons be destroyed. However, the Soviet
Union feared that the United States would always have a military advantage
if they gave up their plans for building a nuclear device and, therefore,
rejected the proposal.
I think that the refusal of the Soviet Union was a big mistake on
their part. Not only did they put the safety of the U.S.S.R on the line,
but of the whole world, as well. By rejectin .....

Acid Rain
Number of pages: 6 | Number of words: 1515.... pipes and the
lead could go into our drinking water. It is hard to determine where acid rain
may fall next, because the wind from a pollueted area could carry pollution to
another area and the acid rain could fall there. The regions effected more by
acid rain is large parts of eastern North America, Scandinavia, and central
Europe. In alot of places acid rain isn't a probelm because some soils can
neutralize the acid and it doesn't effect the crops. Areas more sensitive to
acid rain is in the western United States most of Washington all of Oregon,
sectons of California an .....

Computers

Imagine a world without . That would mean no proper means of communicating, no Internet, no video games. Life would be extremely difficult. Adults would have to store all their office work paper and therefore take up an entire room. Teenagers would have to submit course-works and projects hand-written. All graphs and diagrams would have to be drawn neatly and carefully. Youn .....

Marijuana 2
Number of pages: 4 | Number of words: 863.... The strength of cannabis varies greatly from one variety to another. Some, known as 'one-hit-shit', requires only a single lung-full to reach full effects while other varieties require many hits to achieve the same effects. Additionally, the amount that one individual likes to smoke can be many times what another prefers. Generally, 1/8 ounce (3.5 g) of mid-quality bud could get around 20-30 people reasonably high.
Cannabis is sold on the street for anywhere between $25 - $150 per 1/4 ounce depending on quality and location. In the U.S., prices are generally $30-$60 for .....

Atom Book
Number of pages: 2 | Number of words: 280.... it's like.
We're going to into the Helium atom today. An atom is made of little things
called protons, nuetrons, and electrons. Protons have a positive charge,
neutrons have no charge, and electrons have a negative charge. Electrons travel
around the center of the atom, which is called the nucleus. Kind of like how
Earth revolves around the sun. Protons and nuetrons make up the center of the
atom.
The atom has an atomic number. Scientists find that number by counting how many
protons are in the nucleus. In this case Helium has two protons.
Scientists find the average atom .....
