Thoeries Of Evolution
Number of pages: 7 | Number of words: 1798.... of evolution by acquired
characteristics was not tested scientifically during Lamarck's lifetime.
A successful explanation of evolutionary processes was proposed by
Charles Darwin. His most famous book, On the Origin of Species by Means of
Natural Selection (1859), is a landmark in human understanding of nature.
Pointing to variability within species, Darwin observed that while offspring
inherit a resemblance to their parents, they are not identical to them. He
further noted that some of the differences between offspring and parents were
not due soley to the enviro .....

Intro To Computer Virus
Number of pages: 6 | Number of words: 1553.... somewhere in their computer systems.
Types of Viruses
Under the main heading of viruses are three types of harmful computer programs, not all of which hide and replicate.
The first of these is the Trojan Horse programs, the name of which comes from the Greek legend that told how Greek soldiers gained entry to the city of Troy in a giant, hollow wooden horse and thus captured the city, ending the Trojan War. Though not technically a virus it is still dangerous and could cause permanent damage to your operating system. A Trojan Horse program is a program disguised a .....

Dams And Resources
Number of pages: 5 | Number of words: 1199.... and 13 times the size of
Lesotho. Volta Reservoir behind Ghana's Akasombo Dam, flooded 4% of that nation's land area. In the
United States, whose 5,500 large dams make it the second most dammed country in the world, we have
stopped building large dams, and are now spending great amounts of money trying to fix the problems
created by existing dams.
Although the impacts of large dams have been well documented for some time now, in case after
case, new ones are proposed whose environmental impacts are downplayed or even ignored. A suvey
showed that most dams were built .....

Information Warfare
Number of pages: 5 | Number of words: 1274.... not only by individuals against other persons, but companies and even the nation as well. As the third wave, defined by Tofflers, becomes more widely spread across the nation and world we can only expect a far larger usage of such technological tactics, being used in the home, workplace, and even international politics. Schwartau’s definition of is, “the use of information, and information systems as both weapons and targets in a conflict,” (Schwartau 12). We are now living in a time when knowledge is power, and what is knowledge made up of? Quite sim .....

Air Polution
Number of pages: 6 | Number of words: 1424.... by a number of different types
of pollutants. The first type, particulate matter, consists of solid and liquid
aerosols suspended in the atmosphere. These arise from the burning of coal and
from industrial processes. Atmospheric particles can scatter and absorb sunlight
which reduces visibility. Particles also reduce visibility by attenuating the
light from objects and illuminating the air causing the contrast between the
objects and their backgrounds to reduce. Not only does it effect visibility, but
it hastens the erosion of building materials and the corrosion of metals,
int .....

Greenhousing The Wrong Way
Number of pages: 2 | Number of words: 495.... temperatures rise, the waters get warmer and begin the melting
process of the polar ice caps (Popular Science).
Long term predictions of Global warming say that the melting of the
polar ice caps will continue causing ocean waters to rise, resulting in massive
coastal flooding of major cities such as Los Angeles and Miami.
If the next century's warming stays at a low end of estimates, the
consequences are likely to be mild. But if warming reaches the middle or top
estimates, we are likely to see such things as more frequent and more intense
heat waves, increased flooding, and .....

El Nino La Nina
Number of pages: 3 | Number of words: 622.... a variety of different names such as El Viejo, anti-El Nino or simply "cold event". When the warmer Pacific water is pushed westward by the trade winds, that water flows toward Asia and makes room for the colder, deep sea water, to rise and flow to the Americas. Because cold water doesn't evaporate, there is a large reduction in the formation of storm clouds. The weather patterns of La Nina are basically an exact opposite of El Nino. Strong high pressure systems form over the Pacific and low pressure systems are discovered over Australia. Westerly trade winds push the warm .....

Heart Murmurr
Number of pages: 4 | Number of words: 888.... arteries are still slightly narrow, and, therefore, blood flow through them will cause a murmur. As the baby grows, the murmur will become softer and many times disappear altogether. Another common innocent murmur heard in children ages 3 to 8 years is a vibratory musical murmur called a Still's murmur. No one knows the cause of the murmur other than blood flowing through a healthy vigorous heart. The murmur is usually detected at a well-child visit or if the child comes in with fever or some other form of illness. In times of fever or illness, the murmur will be louder because .....
