Exploring The Mind
Number of pages: 4 | Number of words: 967.... of their time. So with this limited knowledge, children will consistently react to situations in a similar way that can only be explained by an instinctive nature. Have young children changed their behavior since the 1700's? I suppose any child from any culture at any time in history would cry when it was upset, physically take whatever it wanted, need a certain amount of love and attention, and also be interested in exploring things outside of it's bounds. I feel that all of these instinctive behaviors seen in young children are emotions that I, as a young adult, have som .....

Grasshopper Dissection
Number of pages: 2 | Number of words: 357.... just for me but for my whole group, I know this because I could see them concentrate and do everything right instead of just screwing off and not concentrating at all. I never knew that a grasshopper had so many complex parts to it. The jaw alone amazed me. I must say that the temperature in the room made those little things stink like a son of a gun. But all in all it was fun and I can honestly say that I actually learned something this year.
In conclusion I would just like to state that this project has been a blast, I don’t even mind writing these little papers .....

Deforestation
Number of pages: 6 | Number of words: 1418.... 3 400 million hectares of forests in the world,
nearly 25% of the world's land area. Close to 58% of the forests are found in
the temperate/boreal regions and 42% in the tropics. For about a millennium,
people have benefited from the forests. Forest products range from simple
fuelwood and building poles to sophisticated natural medicines, and from high-
tech wood based manufactures to paper products. Environmental benefits include
water flow control, soil conservation, and atmospheric influences. Brazil's
Amozonia contains half of the world's tropical rain forests. T .....

Chromosome Probes At The University Of Toronto
Number of pages: 3 | Number of words: 726.... who have a family history of chromosomal abnormalities. Prenatal
tests using Willard's probes would be much simpler and faster to perform
and could be available to all pregnant women who wish to take advantage of
the technology.
Current prenatal testing involves growing fetal cells in vitro and
examining them, over one or two months, to see if there are two copies of
a particular chromosome, which is normal, or one or three, which is
abnormal. A test using Willard's probes would require only a few cells and
a few days to detect abnormalities. "I don't think it's beyond the .....

Hurricanes 2
Number of pages: 3 | Number of words: 596.... in the thunderheads. The air begins swirling around the storm center, for the same reason that the air swirls around a tornado center. As this air swirls in over the sea surface, it soaks up more and more water vapour. At the storm center, this new supply of water vapor gets pulled into the thunderhead updrafts, releasing still more energy as the water vapor condenses. This makes the updrafts rise faster, pulling in even larger amounts of air and water vapor from the storm's edges. And as the updrafts speed up, air swirls faster and faster around the storm center. The storm .....

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome
Number of pages: 3 | Number of words: 589.... facial dysmorphology such as thin upper lip, flattened philtrum, and/or short openings between eyelids, and
3. damage to the central nervous system.
Diagnosis can be difficult because many of the critical diagnostic features change with age. It is most difficult to diagnose in newborns and adults. Reaching an FAE diagnosis is even more difficult because only some of the symptoms are present, and possibly not as visible. This disorder cannot be detected by genetic testing because the damage is done after the baby is born.
It is not known how much a pregnant woman can saf .....

Black Holes
Number of pages: 3 | Number of words: 688.... According to general relativity, gravitation severely modifies
space and time near a black hole. As the horizon is approached from
outside, time slows down relative to that of distant observers, stopping
completely on the horizon. Once a body has contracted within its
Schwarzschild radius, it would theoretically collapse to a singularity—that
is, a dimensionless object of infinite density.
Formation
Black holes may form during the course of stellar evolution. As
nuclear fuels are exhausted in the core of a star, the pressure associated
with their heat is .....

Nuclear Waste Management
Number of pages: 5 | Number of words: 1179.... present in this explosion is also
present in spent fuels. This presents special problems in the handling, storage,
and disposal of the depleted uranium. When nuclear fuel is first loaded into a
reactor, 238U and 235U are present. When in the reactor, the 235U is gradually
depleted and gives rise to fission products, generally, cesium (137Cs) and
strontium (90Sr). These waste materials are very unstable and have to undergo
radioactive disintegration before they can be transformed into stable isotopes.
Each radioactive isotope in this waste material decays at its characterist .....
