Antigone: Who Is The Tragic Hero?
Number of pages: 3 | Number of words: 624.... These arguments, and many others, make many people believe the Antigone is
the rightful protagonist.
Many critics argue that Creon is the tragic hero of Antigone. They say
that his noble quality is his caring for Antigone and Ismene when thier father
was persecuted. Those who stand behind Creon also argue that Antigone never had
a true epiphany, a key element in being a tragic hero. Creon, on the other hand,
realized his mistake when Teiresias made his prophecy. He is forced to live,
knowing that three people are dead because of his ignorance, which is a

The Artist Verses Society
Number of pages: 2 | Number of words: 508.... arguably the most talented painter ever wrote backwards so that people wouldn't know what he was writing. He would rather have been seen as incompetent than to let people really know what he was thinking. If people had known what he was really writing he would have been branded a heretic and exiled from the painting world.
A second example and perhaps one of the best was also a painter, Vincent Van Gogh. Van Gogh also one of the world's best painters was effected in the deepest ways by things that most people wouldn't give a second thought to. This sensitivity effected eve .....

Comparing Washington And Macbeth: The Fate Of A Nation
Number of pages: 2 | Number of words: 487.... He could have easily performed a "coup d'état"
and seized control of the newly freed nation. However, Washington's
ambitions were not to become a dictator, or king. He believed that power
did not come from controlling others, but from the honor and respect that
was given to him. Washington knew that this power would only come from
subordination to civilian authority. He would be a precedent by being the
first general to turn down his immense powers. With these actions,
Washington assured the success of a new democratic nation.
MacBeth, like Washington, was po .....

Creon's Role Of King And His Responsibilities
Number of pages: 5 | Number of words: 1237.... of accountability to the people. This accountability is what Creon says
inspires "fear" in the king, for if affairs of state or of the people fall into
decline, the king is the first person whom the citizenry look to blame. This is
analogous to executive leaders throughout history, as one can see in looking at
American presidents and the correlation between the present conditions and
events of the nation to the public's opinion of the president, regardless of the
actual impact that his decisions may have made in these conditions. Creon
maintains that he has the same .....

Death Of A Salesman: Society's Alienation Of Willy Loman
Number of pages: 4 | Number of words: 888.... simply because he thought Willy, "needed some rest." Actually,
Howard never intended to give Willy his job back. He was merely trying to take
Willy's position because he didn't believe Willy could hack it anymore. This is
a reflection of society's present day treatment of the elderly. Younger
generations now, move older people into rest homes and try to keep them out of
public view, for risk of embarassment. This is reflected by Howard's statement,
"I don't want you to represent us anymore." Society's assumption of Willy's
capabilities, in this case, cost him his job.

extraordinary." With these few words, Mr. Keating opened the minds of his
students to the broad possibilities that life held for them. The boys learned
that they deserved more than the daily routine, that they were not satisfied
with living up to the expectations of others. As a result, they re-established
the Dead Poet's society, and consequently experienced what they had been
protected from previously. The most significant change wrought from both the
arrival of Mr. Keating and the re-instatement of the Dead Poet's Society was
Neil Perry's change in attitude. H .....

Death Of A Salesman: Willy's Suicide Is His Downfall
Number of pages: 2 | Number of words: 478.... the “key” to being successful. He does not understand that the “key” is to work hard to get what you want in life. His false values showed again when Biff stole a football from school and a whole case of them at the sporting goods store were he worked. Willy’s motto was that biff didn’t mean any harm. Willy even laughed when the boys stole lumber from a construction sight nearby. This proves that Willy is passing his false values to his sons.
Secondly, Willy is a dishonest man. Willy tries to get Bernard to let Biff cheat off of him on a math test. Willy says to Ber .....
