Opinion On The Death Penalty
Number of pages: 4 | Number of words: 1001.... by this ancient code of punishment. For example, we do not
rape the rapist's daughter; we do not kidnap the kidnapper's children; but if
the death penalty were permitted, we would " kill the killer". So why, as
educated citizens, would we want to lower ourselves to this level? Do we feel
that we need to show the power of the police force by killing the killers? The
death penalty is extremely barbaric and is often botched in order to let the
accused suffer for several minutes. Society by now must realize that two wrongs
certainly do not make a right. You do not show .....

Hallucinogen
Number of pages: 4 | Number of words: 915.... to the hemp family . The active principle
responsible for the drug's effects is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), obtained from
the amber-colored resin of the flowering tops and leaves of the plant. Hashish
is also made from this resin.
Of all drugs, synthetic and natural, the most powerful is LSD, or lysergic
acid diethylamide. Twenty micrograms, an almost infinitesimal amount, is
sufficient to produce a hallucinogenic effect; just 3 pounds (1.4 kilograms)
could induce a reaction in all the inhabitants of New York City and London. This
extraordinary potency makes LSD especiall .....

Juvenile Crime And Punishment: Justice Or Injustice
Number of pages: 3 | Number of words: 613.... process, many debates are surfacing questioning whether it is morally right to subject our young to adult prisons.
History shows thousands of years of serious tensions between children and parents. In the U.S., parents and children both complain that they receive no respect from each other.
Yet mostly because of the spread of guns and drugs, younger and younger children are killing and being killed. Just recently there were several shootings involving children less than twelve years of age. According to children rights advocates, even in the most violent years in U.S. history, .....

Drink Up - Drunk Driving Should Be Legalized
Number of pages: 2 | Number of words: 360.... also improve the quality of
life for those who choose not to drink. Currently people who have been
drinking are legally required to use some form of transportation other than
them operating a motor vehicle. This requires them to hang around where
they are and get a ride with someone else or wait or some public
transportation. With the legalization of driving while drunk the non-
drinking population would not need to be bothered by drunk people that do
not have rides. Finally, this would help stimulate the economy which may
be in dire trouble. For example, with the remo .....

Why Drugs Should Be Legalized!!!!
Number of pages: 12 | Number of words: 3260.... those on the previously legal alcohol which
led to the blinding or death of many consumers. Finally in 1933, politicians
buckled and repealed the 18th Amendment. The Prohibition attempt of the early
20th century provides the perfect historical support for the decriminalization
of drugs.
"Prohibition will work great injury to the cause of temperance. It is a species
of intemperance within itself, for it goes beyond the bounds of reason in that
it attempts to control a man's appetite by legislation, and makes a crime out of
things that are not crimes. A Prohibition law strikes a .....

Law Does Not Drive Us, Reason Does
Number of pages: 4 | Number of words: 884.... himself this way:
Human nature consists of three basic components. These are to
live,
propagate, and to dominate. If humanity was left without any
other
parameters, this natural state of existence would govern its
behavior. Fortunately there are parameters, and they are laws.
(Mosier)
What this basically says is that laws are made up to maintain order, monitor
actions, and work for the best interest of society as a whole. If their were no
laws chaos and anarchy would be widespread. This is why society has set up
governments. .....

Drug Prohibition
Number of pages: 3 | Number of words: 808.... for carrying extremely valuable
goods. The streets become battlegrounds for competing dealers because a
particular block or corner can rake in thousands of extra dollars a day. Should
drugs be legalized, the price would collapse, and so would the drug-related
motivations to commit crime. A pack of cocaine becomes no more dangerous to
carry than a pack of cigarettes. The streets would be safer to walk, as
criminal drug dealers are pushed from the market.
Legalization would also deflate prison overcrowding. Out of 31,346
sentenced prisoners in federal institutions, d .....

The Death Penalty: The Deterrent
Number of pages: 6 | Number of words: 1566.... of such violent crimes. "To protect the innocent and transfer the fear and burden of crime to the criminal element where it belongs, we must demand that capital punishment be imposed when justified and expanded to cover terrible crimes in addition to murder" (Lee 163).
Ever since executions have existed, there have been several methods of executing criminals. Firing squad, hanging, decapitation, and stoning people to death were some of the methods that had been used in the past to perform executions. The three most common forms of executions in the United States today are .....
