People Are Still Trading Crime For Crime
Number of pages: 3 | Number of words: 590.... confronts you with certain questions. The finger is pointed at the listener;
I think guilt and innocence
they are a matter of degree
what might be justice to you
might not be justice to me.3
This is a clear example of DiFranco addressing the listener. One is almost forced to contemplate over such a line. DiFranco wants you to think about what justice means to you. So you soon realize that listening to the song just is not enough.
DiFranco wouldn't be DiFranco if she stopped here. She is someone who takes her listener a step further;
You might be the wrong col .....

The Difference Between Punk And Ska
Number of pages: 3 | Number of words: 584.... effects like flangers and wahs. It is fairly easy to hear what they are playing. Although ska doesn’t really use distortion, they do use a sound gate that makes their guitar sound very snappy. Ska also uses a lot of unusual effects just for fun.
Punk bands have a lead guitar player, and sometimes a rhythm guitarist who backs up the lead guitarist. In ska, all the guitars make quick, snappy, upward strums and quickly palm mute the strings. All of the guitarists do the same thing, and occasionally someone will have a solo.
One of the other ways ska and punk can be ident .....

Song Analysis: "Betterman”
Number of pages: 3 | Number of words: 596.... how easily you can fall in love
but how painful it can be to fall back out. It lets you understand love
more I think and shows you how strong love is. It really lets you hear the
pain love can cause and how much you go through when love is destroyed.
The song symbolizes anger and how angry you can get when things break apart.
The lyrics tell you how easily you can lie to yourself to try to make
something better and how it never works out if you take that approach. It
really shows the emotions involved with love and the things love makes you
do. I think the theme of this s .....

Jimi Hendrix And Jimmy Page
Number of pages: 5 | Number of words: 1364.... and his shows became standing room only. His stage acts were so wild, Time magazine described it as: "He hopped, twisted and rolled over sideways without missing a twang or a moan. He slung the guitar low over swiveling hips, or raised it to pick the strings with his teeth; he thrust it between his legs and did a bump and grind, crooning: 'oh, baby, come on now, sock it to me.'...For a symbolic finish, he lifted the guitar and flung it against the amplifiers." Time (April 25, 1968). His specialty became the way he used feedback, which up until now was an undesired sound. Usi .....

Jimi Hendrix's "Purple Haze" And The 1960s And 70s
Number of pages: 2 | Number of words: 467.... acquired in my interview, the 60's seemed to be more
carefree than dangerous. In my opinion, Kansas probably wasn't exactly the
hippie capital of the world. If I had interviewed someone who had lived in
a major city during the 60's I'm sure the danger would have been more
noticeable. A majority of the drug usage took place in the cities.
Jimi Hendrix is a perfect example of a hard-core hippie. He was a
drug addict as well as a spontaneous musical historian. He did have a long
lasting impact on many people. His death was very controversial. Was his
life wasted o .....

Pearl Jam, Everclear, And No Doubt
Number of pages: 2 | Number of words: 450.... band from Portland. They are not as popular as Pearl Jam,
but they do have a large following of fans. The three band members of Everclear
are Art Alexis, (lead vocals, and guitar) Greg Eklund, (drums and vocals) and
Craig Montoya, (bass, and vocals). Their album together is Sparkle and Fade, and
it is one of the best albums I've ever heard. Among the may popular songs are
Heroin Girl, Sparkle and Fade, and Santa Monica. All of the lyrics are good, but
there is a lot of profanity on this album.
No Doubt is the last band, but is not the least. No Doubt has had a
number one albu .....

Rock Music
Number of pages: 5 | Number of words: 1151.... the stars until Bill Haley appeared with his "Rock Around the Clock". In this decade, Elvis Presley introduced a music that was sexual-suggestive, and outraged many adults of that time. In time, he changed the style of the music by adopting a country and western style and became a national hero. By the end of this decade and the start of the next, Rock n' Roll started to decline because it was formula-ridden and it was too sentimental. Teenage audiences transferred their allegiance to Folk music.
In 1963, the renewal of Rock n' Roll came when The Beatles started to play. The .....

Hawaiian Music
Number of pages: 5 | Number of words: 1370.... a sharkskin membrane. The main purpose of these is to provide a rattling or drumming sound.
A mele or rhythmic chanting of poetry or song also accompanied it. It is only in the recent century that guitar has been added to this selection of instruments.
The music of Hawaii is a very beautiful harmonization between voices and instruments. The native Hawaiians are known for their vocal ability when it comes to singing. The women’s voices can often times reach an impossibly high soprano note with considerable ease while the men are also able to reach high notes otherwise consid .....
